// how it works

From an idea to a settled account.

Colloquium handles the parts of running an academic conference that are administration rather than scholarship — the site, the tickets, the money, the certificates. You keep the parts that are not.

  1. 01

    Create your conference

Name it, set the dates, and you have a Draft. Nothing is public and nothing is chargeable until you publish, so you can build the whole thing before anyone sees it.

  2. 02

    Build the site

Ten sections covering the things every academic conference needs — call for papers, invited speakers, venue, programme, committees, sponsors — plus up to five of your own. Your logo and colours; our structure, so it works on a phone without you thinking about it.

  3. 03

    Set your tickets

As many categories as you need, each with its own price, quantity and sale window. Early bird that closes, student rate that is capped, presenter rate that is not public. Quantities are hard caps.

  4. 04

    Publish and sell

The site goes live at your own address and registration opens. Delegates pay by card, or request an invoice for their finance office — which holds their place for seven days.

  5. 05

    Capture your costs

Upload supplier invoices as they arrive. The profitability dashboard updates immediately, showing what the event has confirmed, what it is projected to make, and what it looks like if every remaining ticket sells.

  6. 06

    Get paid

After the event we reconcile: suppliers are paid from collected funds, fees are deducted, and the balance is settled to you. Every figure on the statement traces back to the transactions and invoices behind it.
